Remote Folder Access

For the teachers your My Documents and Teacher Docs folders have been made accessible to you through the Internet so you can access your work files from home, or anywhere you have an internet connection.

Please limit your use of this service to Burke business and do not use it as a transfer site for music, videos, or photos. Doing so will degrade the user experience for others.

There are three ways to access your files from home:

  1. Through Outlook Web Access

  2. As a page in a web browser

  3. As a folder on your computer
(Windows XP, Vista, Mac OSx, Windows 7 soon)

You can use one, all, or any combination of these methods you wish.

Methods 1 and 2 require no setup, but access to your documents is read only.
This means if you wish to save changes you make to a document you must save it as a file on your computer and use some other means to get it back into your folder at work.
This could be:
Take it back to school on a flash drive.
Take it back to school on a CD.
Email it to your work address.(this method is not prohibited, but is
    discouraged)
Save it to your remote folder (if it is setup).

Accessing your files through Outlook Web Access is convenient, fast, and provides options for viewing your documents.

Accessing your files through a web browser is convenient, but it can be difficult to navigate and a little slow.

Accessing your files through a folder on your computer requires a setup that is somewhat complicated. However, it only needs to be done once and provides read/write access to your documents.
This means you can drag folders or files from your computer or other storage media attached to your computer and drop them onto the Web Folder. You can also drag folders or files from the Web Folder onto your computer. You can open a file in your Web Folder and save the changes you've made to the Web Folder.
