Accessing your files directly from a web browser

You have two folders that are remotely accessible.
For the purpose of remote access they are labeled as follows:

1) My Documents = firstinitiallastname
2) Your individual teacher folder that is in Teacher Shared Docs = lastname

For example: Jane Doe's My Documents folder will be named "jdoe".
Her teacher folder will be named "doe". In both cases they are all lower case.

There is an exception to this for Moneta and Jeanne Mack.
These two teacher docs folders will be labeled mackm and mackj.

To access your files in a web browser type this in the address bar
https://burkebasic.com/firstinitiallastname or lastname be sure to substitute
your appropriate folder name for firstinitiallastname or lastname.

Notice at the beginning of the address it says https rather than http.
This indicates your are connecting to a secure site and any data sent
or received from this site will be encrypted.

You will be asked for a user name and password.
These are the same that you use on your school computer

You will now be presented with a web page similar to the picture below
In this view you simply click on the folder or file you wish to open.

The link that says [To Parent Directory] moves you up through the folders.

When opening a file from here you will be asked to either open it or save it.

If you select open you will be asked for your user name and password again and it will then open.
If you choose save you will be prompted for the location you wish to save it to, you will not be
prompted for a user name and password.

Access to documents through your web browser is read only. You cannot save them back to the web browser.
To save any changes you make to a document you must save it to your computer and get it back to your
work folder through some other means.
Such as:
Take it back to school on a flash drive.
Take it back to school on a CD.
Email it to your work email address. (this method is not prohibited, but is discouraged)
